Marcy-Holmes Neighborhood Association Candidate Form
Thank you for your interest in running for a seat on the Marcy-Holmes Neighborhood Association board. The more people involved in the association, the more our neighborhood thrives and remains a wonderful place to live, work, learn, play and grow. Serving as a board member is one of the most important ways you can help us fulfill our mission: “to improve and enhance the quality of residential life in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood.”

The MHNA board consists of Directors and Officers.

To run for a 2022 Director Seat:

You must be a Resident Member or Non-Resident Member.

— A Resident Members is anyone residing in the Marcy-Holmes Neighborhood.

— A Non-Resident Member is someone who:
    • owns real property or has an interest in real property in the neighborhood, OR
    • is a duly sponsored representative of a non-profit organization or for-profit business that has a physical address in the neighborhood.

— Membership also extends to
    • residents, property owners, businesses and nonprofits who have a physical address within the area bounded by 15th Ave SE on the west, University Ave SE on the south, Oak St SE on the east, and the BNSF railroad tracks to the north.
    • residents of Sanford Hall and Roy Wilkins Hall, just south of University Ave SE.


To run for a 2022 Officer Seat (for President and Vice President roles)

— For President and Vice President roles:
    • you must meet the Resident membership eligibility criteria for a Director seat (above).
    • you must have six (6) months prior experience as an elected Director or Officer of this Association.

— For Treasurer and Secretary roles:
    • you must meet the Resident membership eligibility criteria for a Director seat (above).


If you meet the basic criteria mentioned above, filling out this form is your statement of intent to run, and your name will appear on the June ballot.


The MHNA Board Position Description lists responsibilities of board members. Here’s an overview:

Board Director terms are for two years. Officer terms are for one year.
Board members attend regular monthly board meetings.
Each board member is asked to serve on one committee or task force.
Each board member is asked to make a financial contribution once a year, in any amount that is personally appropriate.
