Reclaim Community is excited to be coordinating the first public Food Forest in Pipestone County after receiving a mini-grant to design it. We hope it will be just as much of a positive benefit to the community as the Luverne Food Forest.
Now that we have the design, we need YOUR HANDS to make it a reality, as volunteer help and financial donations for plants and supplies will be needed.
Install for trees/shrubs will be early May. Project Food Forest will have several AmeriCorps members available to help until the end of August and helping with volunteer recruitment/coordination throughout the process.
Do you live in or near Jasper and enjoy gardening? Do you know of a community gardening group, a youth group, FFA club, 4-H Club, Boy or Girl Scouts who might be interested in helping us install and maintain it?
We also need supporters from near or far who would take pride in financially supporting the project. We have received a mini-grant from A Healthier Southwest to cover the design and planning, but would need to raise funds to buy the plants in March.
We love the idea of an extraordinary public space where fun, food, fellowship, and land stewardship all have a role. We want to see the school grounds be used to support Jasper while the building is still being renovated. We would like to have a beautiful garden area that people from the whole county can walk through and enjoy, and be able to enjoy harvests of fruits, nuts and herbs every year.
We would love to hear your thoughts.
We plan to install some public community garden beds as well if we have enough interest and people wanting to garden with each other to share the workload.
Please help us plan this potential project by filling out this form!
