City of Northampton (MA) - Setback Tree Request Form
The City of Northampton is offering to plant healthy, young shade trees on private property within 20 feet of the public right of way (edge of sidewalk or road).  Shade trees placed within 20 feet of the right-of-way on private land remain healthier, live longer, stay safer, and cost less in the long run.

Trees planted within the 20 foot right-of-way will be considered protected public shade trees when you agree to host the tree.  A formal agreement needs to be signed.  The agreement, called "Permission to Plant Tree Near Public Way," can be found on the Tree Warden's web page: http://northamptonma.gov/785/Tree-Request-Forms.  The City of Northampton will prune, water and care for your tree for the life of the tree.

If you are a property owner and would like a tree delivered and planted in your front or side yard at no cost, please fill in the form below and the Tree Warden will get in touch with you to schedule a site visit.
