RULES FOR ENTRY in the 7th Annual Fresh Squeezed Ounce of Opera (FSOO25) "Call for Compositions." Please review carefully before answering the next questions.

Guidelines:

1) Works should be meant for the stage, not the concert hall.
2) Works should be between 10-30 minutes in length and include minimal - if any - spoken dialogue.
3) Free range re: topics. Preference will be given to more current issues or explorations, but retellings of classic stories are also super cool. Funny, quirky, serious, poignant, low-brow, high-brow - it’s all good. Make sure you have the rights to any libretti used!
4) English or Spanish is preferred.
5) We REQUIRE piano/vocal scores. Please make sure your piano/vocal score is playable and performance-ready. You may include a full score for reference purposes if you wish (not required). We perform directly from the piano/vocal score.
6) The piece should function as a standalone work and have no more than five (5) named characters. If you have included a small chorus, that is acceptable. Soliloquies are fine.
7) Works that are looking for a world/national/regional premiere and new works (written within the past 5 years) are given preference.
8) An MP3 of the work is REQUIRED, as well. Submission of MIDI files converted to MP3/WAV is acceptable, but we do not have the ability to open MIDI files directly. These recordings are used during the selection and rehearsal process and the file must be uploaded with the other required materials below.
9) If you have more than one micro-opera to enter, please use a separate form for each.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to write us: info at one ounce opera dot com.
