Any ACSA member, region, charter, committee or council may bring nominations for the Friend of Education (FOE) Award to the Vice Presidents of Legislative Action (VPLAs) for consideration. The final awardee(s) are decided by the Vice Presidents of Legislative Action at the February VPLA Meeting. The FOE Award is presented to the awardee(s) during Legislative Action Days proceedings.

PURPOSE:
The Friend of Education Award recognizes a state or federal elected or appointed politician or bureaucrat who has demonstrated continued leadership on behalf of California public education.
AWARD CRITERIA:
- Demonstrates a significant legislative commitment or contribution to California's public education.
- Demonstrates noteworthy leadership on behalf of California public education.
- Consistently supports local and statewide school leaders.
- Supports legislative proposals ranging from early childhood education through adult education.
- Has offered enduring support of ACSA’s legislative platform and ACSA's legislative priorities.
- Recognizes the significance of ACSA’s ongoing role in California public education.
