The annual Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Convention will be held in-person in Stevens Point April 6-8, 2022. This is our first in-person Convention since 2019 and we expect a solid turnout of over 500 people looking to connect, share and learn about lakes, rivers and watersheds.
The event will be structured in the following way:
۰ Wednesday, April 6: Half and full-day workshops
۰ Thursday and Friday, April 7-8: Content-rich presentations, discussions, and more
The event is a collaboration of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Extension Lakes, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension, and Wisconsin Lakes. We are a partnership of people caring for our legacy of lakes, rivers and streams through science, education, and citizen involvement.
For 2022, we are structuring the Convention around the theme: Protecting What We Love for the Future. We invite presenters to join us to share research and experience focusing on: addressing fish and wildlife habitat loss through restoration and other efforts, managing invasive species through citizen monitoring and education, monitoring and protecting water resources, mitigating climate consequences through resiliency, adaptation, and action, and increasing the functionality of organizations. Throughout these sessions, we encourage highlights of efforts and ideas that support diversity, equity and inclusion in water resource protection and management.
The Convention brings together scientists, managers, educators and citizen stakeholders to learn more about water resources, so the audience is more varied than a typical research or professional conference. Ideally, presentations provide the audience with actionable lessons that they might apply at any of Wisconsin's thousands of lakes, rivers or streams.
We are also seeking sponsors and exhibitors who can both support this event and take advantage of the audience that we are building. Look for announcements related to sponsorship and exhibitor options later this fall.
Deadline for unsolicited submissions: Oct. 1, 2021
