WQED Film Academy Lite Spring 2023 Registration
WQED Film Academy Lite is a youth education program in digital media arts and filmmaking. Film Academy Lite is open to 7th graders through 8th graders.

WQED Film Academy Lite is a three week film education program where students will learn filmmaking from start to finish- from pre-production to videography to post-production and editing. Film Academy Lite will be offered Wednesdays, 6-8PM. There are two sessions of Film Academy Lite this spring:
- February 22nd - March 8th OR
- March 29th - April 12th

The cost of the program is $200 per student. Financial assistance is available due to the generous support from foundations and the Pittsburgh community. Payment in full is due at the time of registration to secure a spot. Financial assistance recipients must provide confirmation via email or phone to claim the spot. 

If applying for full scholarships, this application is due Wednesday, February 8th (for the session beginning February 22nd) or Wednesday, March 15th (for the session beginning March 29th).

WQED Film Academy Lite uses a rolling admissions process and will notify all applicants of their application status within 2 weeks prior to the start of the semester. At that time, applicants will also be notified of financial assistance awarded, if applicable.  Limited spaces are available in each session.

Sliding Scale Information
WQED Film Academy offers scholarships covering the full cost of the program as well as a sliding scale tuition based on federal guidelines for free and reduced lunches. Spots are limited for both scholarships and sliding scale tuition.

We base our tuition on the 2022-2023 Federal Registry for Free & Reduced School Lunches shown below.
Here is what we require families pay for the program*:

Green section or below: $50

Yellow: $100

Anything above Yellow:  $200

Payment plans are available to all paying applicants.

Full scholarships are determined based on a combination of essay answers and financial need.
