開催趣旨
水サミットの開催地・熊本市では、地下水保全の取組の一つとして、森林整備が進められてきました。政府としても、水源涵養機能等の多面的機能の持続的な発揮に向けた森林の整備・保全を推進しているところです。本シンポジウムでは、こうした森林の重要性についての最新の知見を紹介し、飲料水や農業・工業用水などの水インフラに寄与する森林の機能について、さらに理解を深めたいと思います。
Kumamoto City, the host city of the 4th APWS, has promoted forestation as one of the policies for groundwater conservation. Japanese government is also promoting the forest maintenance and conservation to sustainably fulfill multiple functions such as water resource conservation function. Our symposium introduces the latest findings on the importance of forests and deepen our understanding of the functions of forests that contribute to water infrastructure such as drinking water, agricultural and industrial water.
