Volt Hockey opens the world of participating in adaptive team sports to people living with PHYSICAL DISABILITIES, such as Spinal Cord Injuries, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, people with an amputation, or other physical conditions which prevent people from participating in other types of team sports. A Volt Hockey wheelchair is powered and is equipped with a fixed stick which is mounted directly at the tip of the hockey chair. The chairs can be customized to adapt to an individual’s needs to offer additional physical support to the extent possible.
Volt Hockey is a fast paced and fun recreational or competitive adaptive sport, however, for the safety of the player and teammates the following requirements must be met:
1) Players must have the ability to learn, understand, and execute the Volt Hockey rules.
2) Players must pay attention to the coaches & referees and follow directions.
3) Players must pay attention to own team-mates and the opponent team-mates. They need to be able to communicate with each other verbally or visually.
