This is a preliminary Application for the Beckman Scholars Competition that will take place during Winter/Spring 2021.  

It is referred to as a 2021 award, which will begin in Summer 2021 and continue all the way through the Summer of 2022. To be eligible, a candidate must be willing and available to start her research with a 10-week full-time internship during Summer 2021, followed by continuing to work throughout the 2021-22 academic year, followed by a second 10-week full-time internship during Summer 2022. Students graduating in 2021 are not eligible. Eligibility of students who are first-years or juniors now (and will be sophomores or seniors in Fall 2021) is something to review on the Beckman Web Page or to discuss with one or more Beckman research mentors.  

This is a brief and simple form. What's critical is identifying and connecting with an eligible Beckman mentor to support your candidacy with a letter of recommendation and individualized mentoring plan during your time in the mentor's lab.  You can scroll through mentors in Biology, Chemistry, or Neuroscience on the website. You also must identify a second person providing a letter of recommendation, and that person should be a member of the Barnard College faculty.

Candidates who will be juniors in Fall 2021 are especially encouraged to complete this form before Monday, February 1, 2021. Those who complete the preliminary application will thereafter receive an e-mail about how to submit complete application materials, due by Monday February 15, 2021.
