2024 Call for Special Sessions
Wisconsin Wetlands Association invites you to submit a proposal for special sessions (Symposia,  Roundtables, Working groups, and Workshops) for the 29th annual Wetland Science Conference, which will be held in person February 20-22, 2024, in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

This conference will be held over three days and will include keynote speakers, topical oral sessions, a poster session, topical roundtables,  working groups, workshops  and field trips to area wetlands. We welcome program content related to all wetland community types in the Upper Midwest region as long as the content of the session applies to the wetlands of Wisconsin.

We seek proposals for special sessions, including:
  • Symposia: planned sessions with curated content and speakers on special topics that support the conference theme and that integrate across disciplines and across the landscape. We seek proposals for half-day or full-day symposia, which could include oral presentations, panel discussions, and/or open discussion. Symposia organizers will be responsible for recruiting speakers for timeslots in multiples of 20 minutes (20, 40, 60, etc.), including time for questions and discussion. All symposia should further information sharing and collaboration on current critical wetland issues. All symposia participants must be registered for the conference.
  • Roundtable Conversations: informal, discussion-focused sessions where people with a shared interest can come together to explore that topic. While roundtable leaders should provide a framework for the discussion, roundtables should feature only limited presentation content; active facilitated engagement by all attendees should be the focus. All roundtable participants must be registered for the conference.
  • Working Groups: your chance to move an initiative forward! An output project or product, such as an action plan, may or may not be a goal. Working group facilitators are expected to provide a framework for the session, which may, in addition to open dialogue, also include some formal presentations. Participation in working group sessions may either be by invite-only or be open to all conference registrants. All working group participants must be registered for the conference.
  • Workshops: provide a chance for attendees to learn and apply new skills and methodologies. Workshop instructors are expected to provide organized content and encourage student engagement and interaction. Workshops typically are one to three hours in length. Pre-registration for workshops is required. Most will entail a nominal fee (usually $20-50). All workshop participants must be registered for the conference.
If you have questions about any of these special sessions, please call 608-250-9971 x2 or email conference@wisconsinwetlands.org.
