Please stop creating inland port project areas in Great Salt Lake Basin wetlands. We oppose the latest damaging inland port proposal to create the “Golden Spike Inland Port” in the Bear River Basin. One part of this inland port will be less than half a mile from the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge and next to a Globally Important Bird Area. Another part will provide subsidies to a business which ships hay internationally. 

We also oppose creation of a Tooele Inland Port Project Area which would destroy Great Salt Lake Basin wetlands.  As will the recently created Spanish Fork Inland Port.

If built, the proposed ports will destroy high functioning wetlands and put more pressure on the dying Great Salt Lake. They will damage air quality, increase traffic congestion, destroy roads and create danger from heavy trucks. Taxpayer money should not be used to benefit a few developers at the expense of public health and the health of Great Salt Lake.
