WHAT IS HEALTH CAREER EXPLORERS?
A select program for 80 high school students who want to learn about health careers at St. Elizabeth Hospital; by observing the workplace, performing hands-on activities, and talking with healthcare practitioners.
WHEN DO EXPLORERS MEET?
Explorers meet one night a month October thru March at one of the St. Elizabeth locations from 5:30-7:30 pm (students are assigned to either a Wed or Thur night).
WHAT DO EXPLORERS DO?
Students will learn about interdisciplinary care through medical scenarios, patient simulators and health professionals’ personal stories. Students will perform activities such as manipulating laparoscopic and robotic instruments, practicing a variety of therapy techniques, performing lab tests and participating in simulation activities.
WHAT IS THE COST?
The cost is $20.
WHAT FORMS ARE REQUIRED?
Up-to-date medical forms are required.
HOW ARE EXPLORERS CHOSEN?
Explorers are chosen based on the essay question- What is the number one reason you want to work in the health care field? Priority may be given for juniors and seniors, but is not guaranteed.
