THURSDAY, August 17, 2023, we will learn from Dr. Jennetta Spears and Dr. Mica Mitchell. 

Jennetta Spears, PT, DPT (she/her/hers) is a licensed physical therapist who has served primarily the pediatric population since 2014. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Winston-Salem State University in 2013. She has experience in the following conditions: children with medically fragile and complex conditions, delayed developmental milestones, equipment assessments and LMNs for children, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, hypertonia, hypotonia, generalized muscle weakness, HIE (hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy), prematurity, cerebral palsy, and other neurological conditions. Jennetta Spears, PT, DPT provides services to clients located in North Carolina in Wake and Johnston Counties. She loves working with children, especially babies and toddlers.  Dr. Spears is also the founder and CEO of EJ Kicks LLC, which is an adaptive shoe brand for children and teens who wear foot orthotics. She has created a patent-pending shoe design that allows space and is a better fit for children that wear bulky foot orthotics. Dr. Spears is also an adjunct professor for Winston Salem State University to help teach typical development in children. Dr. Spears is a wife and mother of 2 amazing children. Mica Mitchell, PT, DPT, C/NDT (she/her/hers) is an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at the College of Saint Mary’s hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in Omaha, NE. She has worked as a pediatric physical therapist in a variety of settings since 2003. She has received her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree with a specialization in pediatric science from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, and a Master in Physical Therapy degree obtained from East Carolina University. She is an American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy. She is the Owner of Creatively Meek and Your Mindfulness Guide.  Mica is driven by a desire to improve the inclusion of minoritized individuals and groups through representation and justice.
