"Do Your Lessons Love Your Students?" is a learning pathway to develop Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning through the Arts (CRTLA).  This course introduces and deepens practices from the cultural and contemporary arts and how they support conditions for meaningful learning.  Our weeklong intensive addresses race, class, gender, sexuality and power dynamics that exist within the frame of our US social context. This course offers applications through the arts that address social issues teaching and learning, advancing equity and belonging.

"Do Your Lessons Love Your Students?" is a week-long online intensive.  We break up the online experience with whole group learning, studio practice, artistic research and group reflections.  Themes include: Breaking Internal and External Patterns, Culture, Cognition and the Arts, Queering the Curriculum, From Implicit Bias to Explicit Belonging, Lineage and Intersectional Identity, Power, Narrative, and Embodiment.  Which set of dates do you prefer? *

Additionally, we offer "The Art of Facilitation," a two-day deep dive into power analysis, narratives, lineages and embodied learning for schools developing a deeper focus on equity and belonging.  It is an intensive that supports school administrators and leaders to implement the work of culturally responsive teaching and learning through the arts. We recommend taking this Intensive prior to attending "Do Your Lessons Love Your Students?" but it is not necessary.
