2019-2020 Draylen Mason Fellows Program Application
The Draylen Mason Fellows Program is an initiative of Austin Soundwaves designed to honor the legacy of Draylen Mason and help further the musical and personal development of high school musicians through intensive workshops, performances, and outreach opportunities in the community.

Applications are open to rising freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior high school musicians (note: students of all musical styles and backgrounds are permitted). Throughout the course of one year, Draylen Mason Fellows will receive lessons and mentoring sessions from musicians, industry professionals, and community leaders.

Up to eight (8) Draylen Mason Fellows will be selected for 2019-2020, drawing from students across central Texas. All applicants will submit a recorded audition and video essay. Finalists will then be invited to a live interview.

Fellows will be expected to attend one workshop session per month from September 2019 through June 2020, as well as various events and opportunities that may come up throughout the year. The fellowship culminates in an original performance that addresses an issue important to the fellows and their communities. This performance project will be created by the fellows throughout the year and will draw from both personal experiences and lessons learned from workshop sessions and other events.

Fellows receive up to a $1,000 stipend to offset costs related to their creative work and/or personal musical development.
