This course is designed to provide the student with the background of how to evaluate and treat patients with disorders of the lumbar spine. They will be taught basic clinical skills for diagnosing and treating specific syndromes affecting the lumbar spine by recognizing signs and symptoms related to those syndromes. Through lecture and demonstration, the student will be covering topics in anatomy, biomechanics and pathology related to the lumbar spine. Differential diagnosis will be taught to assist with competency for direct access. Specific movement impairment syndromes related to the lumbar spine will be introduced, as well as intervention strategies based on current evidence to remedy these impairments.
