August Reopening Feedback
All reopening and future enrollment intentions for the 2020-2021 school year come with the expectation that daily student attendance will be taken, student work will be turned in and will be graded.

This is unlike Q4 (Mar-May) of the 2019-2020 school year, where the Governor "closed school" and gave all districts the option to decide how they wanted to support their communities.  If there is another closure of schools, we will respond and adjust according to provided guidelines and communication with our community.

Please choose one option for your family from the three below.

Option 1 - Start on the original date of July 30th
A choice of Option 1 means teachers return to work on their original scheduled date. There is no impact to teacher agreements.  We are able to maintain our existing planned 180-day school calendar and keep existing Fall, Winter, and Spring breaks and end school on May 20th, 2021.

Teachers will teach all classes/courses via the home-based platform starting July 30th through August 14th.  Starting August 17th, your selected student learning experience will begin (On-Campus, Hybrid, Home-Based).

Choosing this option allows San Tan to comply with the two-week delayed on-campus learning request by the Governor while not having to extend the school year. This is based on current Federal, State, and Local mandates.

Option 2 - Start on the original date of July 30th
A choice of Option 2, supports planning a month at a time and means teachers return to work on their original scheduled date. There is no impact to teacher agreements.  We are able to maintain our existing planned 180-day school calendar and keep existing Fall, Winter, and Spring breaks and end school on May 20th, 2021.

Teachers will teach all classes/courses via the home-based platform starting July 30th through August 28th.  Starting Monday, August 31st, your selected student learning experience will begin (On-Campus, Hybrid, Home-Based).

Choosing this option allows San Tan to adjust and plan instruction a month at a time if additional off-campus options are needed. This is based on current Federal, State, and Local mandates.

Option 3 - New start date of August 17th
A choice of Option 3, delays the start of school in support of the two-week delayed on-campus learning request by the Governor. This means teacher agreements will be modified with a later start date which will affect the start of their pay but not their total compensation for the school year.

To meet the 180-day school calendar, we would need to shorten Fall, Winter, and Spring breaks and extend the school year past May 20, 2021.

Monday, August 17th, your selected student learning experience will begin (On-Campus, Hybrid, Home-Based).  This is based on current Federal, State, and Local mandates.
