APPLICATION FOR DXP AUDITIONS 2024-25

Please select from each grouping that you wish to be considered for.  Students whose scores are not high enough to make the team they have selected will automatically be considered for a team or class of their ability level. Exceptions may be made based on ability and skill level determined by directors and staff. Students without parent permission (this form completed) will not be allowed in the audition room. Auditions consist of a technique workshop that consists of Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip hop regardless of what the child is choosing to audition for. Please bring proper shoes. **Parents are not allowed in the studio(s) during the workshop.  Please wear appropriate dance-wear for each style and hair pulled back.
 
*Reminder: Recreational Teams: minimum of 1 Technique workshop (ballet not required but highly recommended)

SUMMER REQUIREMENTS

Performing Kids None required (Ballet and Technique classes or workshop highly recommended)

Recreational Teams: minimum of 1 sessions of weekly technique or technique workshop (ballet not required but highly recommended)

Competitive Lines: (tap/jazz/hip hop) 2 sessions of weekly technique & Ballet or 1 technique workshop and 1 ballet intensive. 

 Lyrical Teams: 1 session of weekly technique & Ballet and 1 technique workshop and 1 ballet intensive. 

JTC/ATC Members: 2 sessions of weekly technique & Ballet, 1 technique workshop and 1 ballet intensive. 

 Technique workshops may be substituted by taking weekly sessions of the classes listed below

 (equivalent to the amount of hours per workshop.  6 hours- Petite, 9 hours-Juniors, 12 hours-Teen/Senior)

  • Workout for Dancers

  • Turns (beg/int or int/adv)

Ballet Intensives may be substituted by taking weekly sessions of the classes listed below

 (equivalent to the amount of hours per intensive  4 hrs.- Building/Ballet 1-2, 6 hrs.-Ballet 3,4,E)

  • Building Ballet/Ballet 1 

  • Ballet 2/3

  • Ballet 4

  • Pre Pointe/Pointe

  • PBT

**Required additional classes for the dance season:  Graded Ballet, Graded Technique for Line dancers. ATC & JTC additional ballet and technique required. 

A $50 Team/Audition fee will be posted to your account. This fee covers all classes, judges and placements associated with auditions.

A dancer’s life is one of rigorous practice and self-discipline. Patience, practice, perseverance and a serious devotion to dance are essential. Good health and physical stamina are necessary in order to practice and perform. Dance Express is dedicated to providing an opportunity for Mankato area dance students to strive for excellence in a continued growth of dance skills, performance skills and competition skills through keeping members healthy, active and productive. In order for us to know more about you please answer the following questions:Are you serious about continuing to increase your dance, performance and competition skills? Are you willing to perform at community events such as nursing homes and charitable events?Do you consider yourself a team player? (ex: keeping absences to a minimum only missing for emergencies and illness)?   Can you accept criticism? (be honest) Are you willing to make being on a team a full time responsibility?

I understand that my 2024-25 dance registration based on my selections will be updated automatically. (Annual Registration Fee of $40 will be charged, in addition to a $50 Audition/Team Fee) *
Tuition & Fees *
*By choosing to be on a Dance Express team, you are making a commitment to Dance Express and your fellow dancers. Therefore, regardless of team placement, you are committing yourself to a full year of tuition and fees, regardless of whether or not you choose to participate the entire year.  I have read and understand all the requirements of being involved with the Dance Express Teams.
Competitions & Conventions *
I understand that assigned competitions are not an optional event.  I  understand that on the appropriate year, if my team qualifies for a National Level Competition, that it is part of my responsibility to the team to attend these Nationals.  I understand that I am required to pay all fees/costs associated with competitions and these fees are non refundable.  If part of the Junior and Advanced Training Company, Dance Express will be offering additional opportunities to attend conventions & competitions.  The Junior & 
Advanced Training Company will be expected to attend, if the majority agrees to do so.
