StoryCorps Storytelling Workshop
In a partnership between Chinatown Youth Initiatives and StoryCorps, we will be hosting a storytelling workshop on Saturday, November 2nd from 12-2pm, leading up to two free recording days at the Lower Manhattan StoryBooth in Foley Square. This workshop is NOT required (but would be helpful) to participate in a StoryCorps recording.

At this workshop, Rochelle Hoi-Yiu Kwan, a National Facilitator at StoryCorps, will lead discussions about the StoryCorps model for oral history and interviews, the significance of taking our own histories in our own hands, and how our Asian-American identities intersect with personal storytelling.

We will then workshop through our own personal narratives and how to ask questions to even further build out stories, in preparation for either a StoryCorps recording or just a conversation with a loved one outside of the booth.

This workshop is open to CYI alumni, whether or not you would like to participate in a StoryCorps recording, as we want to emphasize bringing these skills and reflections back to our own communities, outside of the booth.
