Purpose:Everyone deserves to have the time of their life, and that can be especially essential when difficulties occur in one’s life. The Send a Little to Camp ("SALTC") Fund makes it more possible for attendees who are having great financial difficulty to still come to TOMKAT, regardless of their financial situation.
Who it is for:The fund was designed for attendees who are experiencing financial difficulty and hardship. By having this fund available, it is hoped that it will enable some to have enough relief to be able to attend camp. Some, but not all, examples of circumstances where it would be appropriate to apply include people who have recently experienced unemployment, on disability or equivalent programs, underemployed, or have medical issues impacting their financial situation. TOMKAT strongly encouraged anyone who believes that they may benefit from some financial relief to openly apply into this program.
How the fund works:SALTC is a separate fund of money that is held by the TOMKAT board - this specific fund is financed by various means, such as: generous donations from camp attendees, specific proceeds from at-camp activities, specific sponsorship agreements, and portions of profits earned by TOMKAT from camping events.
Individuals are then invited to apply to the SALTC program, typically a few months before the specific camping event. After the application form closes, the TOMKAT Board will review all applications and, on a case-by-case basis, either accept or reject the application and, if accepted, assess an amount of financial relief to be allocated to the specific applicant.
You are NOT REQUIRED to have paid your TOMKAT camping fees in full prior to applying to this program, in order to be eligible. If accepted, any financial assistance will be applied to your future payments. FOR EXAMPLE, if you have TOMKAT camping fees of $600.00 CAD and are granted $100.00 CAD of financial assistance, your total payable to TOMKAT would be $500.00 CAD.
ACCEPTANCE WITHIN THIS PROGRAM IS NOT GUARANTEED. MANY FACTORS HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE BOARD TO BE ABLE TO ACTIVELY ACCEPT APPLICANTS. THESE FACTORS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE AMOUNT OF FUNDS AVAILABLE, THE EXTENT OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE REQUESTED, AND THE NUMBER OF APPLICANTS.
Key dates:
This form will close at 11:59pm on AUGUST 12th, 2024. No applications are accepted after this point.
The Board will meet to review ALL applications and, on a case-by-case basis, approve or reject an application.
Tentatively, the Board plans to e-mail all applicants on AUGUST 23rd, 2024. The Board will e-mail all applicants and notify them of their status (accepted / not accepted) and, if accepted, the amount of financial assistance allocated.
