New Year’s(お正月) Ikebana and Origami workshop
Ikebana (生け花) is the Japanese art of flower arrangement and origami(折り紙)is the art of paper folding.

This Ikebana event is led by guest teacher Yukari Mire who has studied the art of Japanese Flower Arrangement for 42 years. She is a student of the oldest school of Ikebana, Ikenobo ( 池坊),  and has attended the Ikenobo Central Research Institute in Kyoto, winning the coveted Tachibana prize for top student three times and winning the Tanabata Kai competition twice.

Yukari sensei will teach about Japanese New Year and demonstrate a New Year’s Ikebana and SJA origami teachers will lead us through a short hands-on origami lesson to make a New Year’s fan (ogi/扇).  This event will make you want to run out and get flowers to make your own Ikenobo at home.
To make the origami, you only need any piece of origami paper, or any piece of paper cut into a square (wrapping paper works well). Please join us for this one-of-a-kind event!

When: January 29th, 3-4pm
Where: On zoom in the comfort of your own home! The link will be sent before the event.
