The living allowance is $12,456 for the year. You are responsible for securing your own health insurance, for finding and paying for your own housing and transportation, among other financial responsibilities. VISTAs can have part-time employment as long as it does not interfere with their service at Our House. VISTAs do not live at Our House.

VISTAs are required to pass state and federal criminal background checks as well as checks of the Adult and Child Maltreatment Registries.  A criminal background does not necessarily exclude an applicant from service, but failure to disclose relevant events will mean immediate termination.
