Music4Life  Scholarship
A qualified candidate for this scholarship is a current Westerville Schools high school senior who is planning to perform during their college freshman year in a music ensemble (Band, Orchestra, Choir, Marching Band).
  • The Music4Life Scholarship was started in 2022 by the Westerville Community Band to support their initiative to support lifelong appreciation of music. The award was created to promote and encourage the further study of music as part of their collegiate experience.

  • Criteria for scholarship consideration includes a video performance, recommendation letters and essay answers.

Each scholarship is a $500.00 award that will be made payable to the college or university the recipient has chosen to attend in the Fall of 2024. If possible, each award winner should be present at the May 5, 2024, Westerville Concert Band concert to receive the respective award. The award winner’s families and high school directors should also plan to attend, if possible. Each award winner is expected to dress in concert dress or business attire at this concert to receive the award.

April 15, 2024– Deadline for application to be submitted via online application. 

April 15, 2024 - Deadline to share video performance via google drive.

April 22, 2024– Applications are reviewed by the Westerville Concert Band Executive Board

April 24, 2024 – The award winner is contacted by the Executive Board Chair Don Nathan

May 5, 2024, 3:00 p.m., Westerville Central HS Auditorium  – Spring Concert

Awardees are presented the scholarship award checks in the name of the chosen college/university.

Recommendation Letters 
As part of the application process, please provide a letter of recommendation from your school music ensemble director, and one from another adult unrelated to you that speaks of your character. Ask them to send the letters of recommendation to Philliplouden@gmail.com (Associate Director of Westerville Community Bands.) Recommendation letters must be received by April 15, 2024.

The final part of application is a video recording of a sample of your musical abilities. It can be  a solo and ensemble piece, or college admission or other performance that is representative of your musical abilities. It can be accompanied or unaccompanied. Please upload your video to the Dropbox link provided below by April 15, 2024:
