Dear Future Game Designer,
It's back for its ninth year!!! We are thrilled to announce that it is time to once again apply for the LaPIXEL Academy! The LaPIXEL Academy is a FREE four-week summer program, sponsored by LaPREP, that's held on the campus of LSUS. Throughout this hands-on program, you will learn about computer graphics, story development, character design, sprite animation, video game creation, and more! At the end of the program, you will have a video game to share with friends and family. What's more, you will have also learned some of the same skills and techniques used in simulation, computer gaming, bioinformatics, medical research, and intelligence operations such as cyber security.
The LaPIXEL Academy 2025 dates are June 2-27 from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM (The classroom opens at 9 AM and lunch is provided at 12 PM each day.) with a demonstration/graduation event where you can show your family and friends the video game you created! (More information about the demonstration/graduation event to come!)
To apply for this program, please COMPLETE ALL FIELDS in the application form below. Applications are due by Friday, April 25, 2025 but WILL BE ACCEPTED as long as there are spaces available. Although LaPREP grads have priority in the selection process, we consider applications from all high school students between the ages of 13 and 18. This program is for FIRST-TIME PARTICIPANTS ONLY and we are limited to accepting 15 students due to seating in our computer lab. Also, since the program is only four weeks, participants are required to ATTEND ALL CLASSES (This is important since participants will be working in teams.). LaPIXEL Academy participant selection will be announced by Friday, May 2, 2025.
