General Rules
  1. YCR is a non-partisan organization which advocates for both the development of Canadian natural resources and the preservation of the environment. We will not share content which opposes either of these objectives.
  2. We confront ideas, not people! YCR hopes to challenge polarization and find common ground across the political spectrum. Avoid the use of inflammatory language that only serves to aggravate those with differing opinions on how to achieve YCR’s objectives.
  3. Use language that can be understood by our audience. Know that our audience comes from a diverse range of academic backgrounds. If you are using terminology that you learned in a university level course, be sure to explain that terminology to the audience as the odds are that most of us have not taken that course.
  4. Remember that you are writing from the perspective of a student/young professional, not an industry expert. Do your best to make sure your writing reflects this.
  5. Cite your sources. If you are using information from other sources be sure to cite it using a hyperlink. If you are unsure how to use a hyperlink check out these tutorials from Microsoft and Google.
  6. Short paragraphs are easier on the eyes of casual readers. Aim for 1-3 sentences per paragraph.
  7. As much as possible, use keywords to increase the probability your blog or op-ed piece can be found off a Google search.
  8. Please know that YCR reserves the right to edit content to fit the rules above, and refuse content that does not align with our policies and values.
  9. Written work should be between 500 and 1500 words.
