Great Expectations: Graduate Education in a Changing World
MAGS members are invited to submit abstracts for contributed sessions for the 79th Annual Meeting to take place at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Chicago – Magnificent Mile in Chicago, IL, from March 29-31, 2023. The meeting’s theme, Great Expectations: Graduate Education in a Changing World, is intended to provide a broad framework for a robust exchange of ideas, showcasing best practices and innovations reflecting expectations for graduate education, those engaged in providing it and the students it serves.  Sessions can include presentations, panels and facilitated discussions.

Potential topics for submission might focus on the strategic, structural, tactical, cultural and academic concerns of graduate education and efforts to address them, featuring established practices, emerging innovations and ways in which those engaged in graduate education are grappling with fundamental or vexing questions.
-- How do the expectations of graduate education reflect a shifting landscape for institutions and students?
-- How does meeting these expectations intersect with the multifaceted experiences of graduate students – research and scholarship, personal and professional development, health and wellbeing, social engagement, diversity, equity and inclusion?
-- In what ways are graduate schools embracing these expectations with new practices and in new contexts, bringing to bear academic, administrative and operational efforts?
-- How do expectations vary for different populations, by discipline, with diverse backgrounds, at a distance, for international students?
-- What does this look like throughout the graduate student life cycle, from recruitment through completion to alumni engagement?

Abstracts for sessions pertaining to this theme and other topical issues impacting graduate education are encouraged.

If you are interested in presenting, or co-presenting a session, please fill out the forms on the next four pages: About Your Session, Session Leader Information (you), Additional Presenters (optional), and Ready to Submit.
