Sponsor Form 2023-2024 [due Nov 12]
The Role of the Sponsor
Each candidate should have a sponsor to journey with him/her throughout the preparation process. The sponsor may be Baptismal godparent or someone else. Retaining the Baptismal godparent shows unity between the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation as well as the lifelong role of the godparents. However, since this is not always possible or feasible, please choose a Catholic person of faith with whom you are comfortable and with whom you can share about your faith and the Confirmation process.

Sponsors must be:
  • 16 years of age or older
  • Have received the sacraments of Baptism, Communion, and Confirmation
  • An active, practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
Parents are not permitted by Canon Law to act in the role of sponsor. It is suggested that the sponsor be someone who lives close by so that they can have regular, meaningful contact with the candidate and be directly involved with the preparation process.
