IEEE IES Inter-SBC Competition 2024

1. Objective:
The objective of the IEEE-IES Inter Student Branch Chapter Competition 2024 is to foster
active participation among student branch chapters, promote student engagement with
IEEE-IES, and encourage innovative research projects within the realm of industrial
electronics.

2. Eligibility:
Student members from any IEEE-IES student branch chapter are eligible to participate in
the competition. Each IES student branch chapter can submit one or more candidates.

3. Competition Topics:
The topics should fall under atleast one of the 24 technical committees and 4 clusters of the IES. The
clusters are as follows:

  • Energy
  • Sensors and Control
  • Information and Communication Technologies
  • Cross-disciplinary

4. Competition Format:
Each candidate is required to prepare and submit a 2-pages report and a recorded
video presentation showcasing their research project and outcome. The presentation
should provide a clear overview of the project's objectives, methodology, results, and
significance. The video should be exactly 5 minutes in duration. Submissions must be
via the provided form. The video should be provided via a link accessible with no
permission. (Google Drive, YouTube, OneDrive, etc) 

5. Evaluation Criteria:
Submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Innovation and Creativity: Uniqueness of the approach, originality of the idea, and creative problem-solving.
  • Technical Excellence: Depth of technical knowledge, thoroughness of research, and accuracy of methodology.
  • Practical Implementation: Feasibility and applicability of the project in real-world scenarios.
  • Presentation: Clarity of communication, structure of the presentation, and ability to convey complex ideas effectively within the 5-minute time limit.
  • Impact and Contribution: Potential impact of the project on the field of industrial electronics and its contribution to sustainable practices.

6. Prizes:
Winners will be recognized with certificates and award money in the following categories:

  1. First Prize: $700 USD + Certificate
  2. Second Prize: $500 USD + Certificate
  3. Third Prize: $300 USD + Certificate
