Youth In Government Session 3 Registration
Hello families! We are excited to begin the third session of Youth In Government. We are planning to run for about 8-12 weeks (as scheduling with departments and city of Folsom permits) The program is completely free and we will have sessions every week on Thursday from 4-5:30 PM. RESPONSES ARE STILL BEING ACCEPTED, ITS OKAY TO JOIN LATE.
Our schedule consists of visiting a city department one week and holding a mock city council meeting in the city council chambers the week after.  Over the course of the Youth in Government session, students will visit city departments (Police, Fire, Water, Public Works) and directly interact with department officials (Police chief, police officers, fire chief, water dept. director, etc).
Students will participate in tours of city departments, learn how Folsom processes and uses water from Folsom Lake, how a firehouse functions, how criminals are processed at our police stations, ride in a garbage truck, roleplay as mayor, and more!  They will get the opportunity voice their views and discuss what they observe at mock city council meetings (taking place in the real city council chambers) and truly immerse themselves in local government.
After completion of the program, students will be awarded a certificate. Feel free to reach out with any questions to youthingovsac@gmail.com.
This is a program offered by Youth Civic Leadership. The program is completely FREE. Visit us at youthcivicleadership.org.
Keep in mind we can only accommodate ~35 students so the sooner this form is filled out, the higher chances of attaining a spot. Emails will be sent out every Wednesday with information regarding the sessions on every Thursday.
