Threat Assessment Interest Survey
Threat assessment is a problem-solving approach to violence prevention that involves assessment and intervention with students who have threatened violence in some way (Cornell, 2019) with the goal of preventing violence and resolving conflicts or problems that underlie threatening behavior.
In 2021, the Safe Student Alliance was formed by the Wyoming Department of Education, in partnership with BOCES 5, Wyoming Safe2Tell, and the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police, which is funded through the STOP School Violence Project grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.
The Safe Student Alliance began training Wyoming school districts in the Fall of 2021 on the Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines Model (CSTAG) and will continue to provide training this coming school year, at no cost to districts. In an effort to collect information on interest and training outcomes, the WDE asks that each district designate one representative to complete the threat assessment survey by June 5, 2023.
