Duanesburg Community Advisory Council
Purpose: The Duanesburg Community Advisory Council (DCAC) brings together a cross-section of the DCS school community to examine, and ultimately develop an action plan to address, a variety of factors related to school culture, the well-being, and safety of students.  The DCAC has three standing sub-committees coordinated by school staff and community member co-chairs appointed by the BOE.

Time Commitment: Subcommittees will meet as needed to accomplish goals, but no more than once per month. Meetings will be virtual and will have both a live option and an asynchronous option to participate after or before the meeting so that everyone who wants to participate may do so on their own schedule. Full DCAC Meetings will occur three times per year and the agenda will consist of subcommittee progress reports. These meetings will be virtual, open to the public, and will also have an asynchronous method for participation.

EQUITY AND INCLUSION SUBCOMMITTEE
Purpose: The purpose of this group is to identify issues related to race, gender, socioeconomic status, sexuality, and disability within the district and community and and advise the superintendent about how to address these issues through programming, policies, and resource allocation as we move toward an environment of acceptance and inclusion.
 
Annual Deliverables:
Planning and implementation of at least one event per year focused on Equity and Inclusion
Participating in the creation of new district equity plan
Monitoring Equity and Inclusion needs assessment
Creation and analysis of annual survey questions

MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS SUBCOMMITTEE
Purpose: The purpose of this group would be to identify issues related to student mental health and wellness and advise the superintendent about how to address these issues through programming, policies, and resource allocation. This group would consist of community and staff members with particular interest or background in mental health and wellness.
 
Annual Deliverables:
Planning and implementation of each school’s Wellness Week events.
Annual maintenance of District Wellness Plan
Creation and analysis of annual survey questions

SAFETY AND SECURITY SUBCOMMITTEE
Propose: The purpose of this group would be to review and provide input into the district level (i.e. non-confidential) safety plan. It includes representatives from local first response and law enforcement as well. This group would consist of community and staff members with particular interest or background in safety or security.
 
Annual Deliverables:
Planning and implementation of at least one district level safety event
Assistance with safety training schedule
Annual maintenance of District Wellness Plan
Creation and analysis of annual survey questions
