Houkulele has once again been invited to participate in the Galveston Mardi Gras celebration with the Krewe of Gambrinus!!! We had an awesome time last year playing for THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE. If you ever want to FEEL LIKE A ROCKSTAR, here's your chance :D

WHEN: Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020
WHERE: Galveston Seawall/The Strand
TIME: Afternoon/Evening (parade starts around 6pm)
THEME: "Hav-an-a Good Time Tonight", so we'll be doing latin-infused/tropical music and costumes


1. LET US KNOW IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE!
We have a limited number of spots on the trailer for those leading the singing/uke playing. Everyone else gets to really work the crowd walking along side the trailer. Family and friends (over the age of 12) who are willing to walk ~4 miles are welcome to join in. There are several "temporary seats" on each side of the trailer that walkers can use to take an occasional break and sit for a bit.

We try to make this event accessible to as many Houkulelians as possible, so we'll host several rehearsals around town and also make audio recordings of the songs so that you can practice at home. Even if you can't make any of the rehearsals, you're still welcome to bring your uke and walk with us!

2. SUBMIT SONG SUGGESTIONS!
We're looking for festive and Latin-infused/tropical songs that are easy to play (not a lot of chords) and sing-a-long to. We'll also play our signature song, “When the Saints Go Marching In.” Suggest as many tunes as you want, and we'll narrow the line-up down to a handful of the most crowd-pleasing tunes!
