About the teacher, Brooke McCarthy: I am an actor, singer, teacher, & creator originally from NJ and recent transplant to Duluth, GA. I graduated from UGA with my MFA in Acting where I had Meisner training and also taught Meisner to my students. Website: www.brookemccarthy.com

Why Meisner? I believe Meisner’s approach to acting provides a strong foundation for live performance because it allows students to truly be in the moment by training actors' natural instincts. I am interested in exploring ways to intersect Meisner’s work with musicals and also to keep my students' performance skills keen by ongoing scene study/training. In my personal experience, I have found myself so caught up in how I sound when singing or how my acting is coming across, that I lose the ability to be in the moment of the story. Meisner’s methodology can provide students with practical tools for staying in the moment whether singing or speaking text.

What is your experience level with Meisner's acting approach?

Never heard of him, and I have no acting experience.
