Hello volunteers! Thank you for joining Girls Rock! DC for our Spring 2021 GR!ASP program! We are so excited for your interest in helping our GR!ASPers have an awesome semester.

Girls Rock! DC After-School Program (GR!ASP) is happening February 1 - March 27, 2021. GR!ASP is an 8-week after-school music education program for young folks ages 8 to 18 in the DC area. GR!ASPers learn to play an instrument, form a band, write an original song, and perform it at a big virtual concert! Read all about GR!ASP here: girlsrockdc.org/programs/grasp/

VOLUNTEER ROLES:
We have four different roles that volunteers can play at GR!ASP! Volunteers may play more than role, depending on the availability needs. You'll have a chance to apply for each of the roles that you're interested in.

Instrument Instructors: Provide instruction in either electric guitar, electric bass, vocals, drums, or keyboard to a small group of GR!ASPers during 1-hour weekday evening sessions throughout the 8 week program. They attend the Showcase concert. They contribute 10-15 hours total. Gift: $250-450

Band Coaches: Facilitate small groups of GR!ASPers in collaborative songwriting, teambuilding, and music creation during 1-hour weekday evening sessions throughout the 8 week program. They attend the Showcase concert. They contribute 10-15 hours total. Gift: $250

Workshop Facilitators: Facilitate a 1-hour workshop on a weekend afternoon for GR!ASPers on a justice, music, or arts topic. They may attend the Showcase concert. They contribute 1-4 hours total. Gift: $50

Performers: Perform a 1-hour live private show (including Q&A) for GR!ASPers over zoom. They may attend the Showcase concert. They contribute 1-4 hours total. Gift: $50

VOLUNTEER TRAINING:
GR!ASP is all online this semester, and you'll receive training on how to use online tools and how to work with GR!ASPers in a virtual space. Volunteers will join a private slack for GR!ASP and will receiver support from the Girls Rock! DC team throughout the program.

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION:
All volunteers are offered a monetary gift as a thank you for their contribution of time. Instructors and Coaches will be offered at least $250 and Facilitators and Performers will be offered at least $50 for the Spring 2021 GR!ASP program.

HOW TO APPLY:
If you're 18+, please complete the below application so we can determine if your interest, availability and skills and Girls Rock! DC's needs result in a match.

If you are volunteering with Girls Rock! DC for the first time, we will require a phone interview. Returning volunteers will also have a phone check-in. As camp supports minors, volunteer training and a background check are required for ALL volunteers who will be interacting with campers during camp week.
