Paratext - Quality in Translation: Workshop Requirements and Description

Dates: October 9 - 11

The Paratext - Quality in Translation workshop expects participants to be capable users of Paratext, and will NOT offer instruction for beginners.

This workshop will focus on the following:

  • Good workspace setup for translation
  • Enhanced Resources for exegesis
  • Project Plan for thoroughness and automatic checking
  • Configuration of checks
  • Biblical Terms for accuracy and consistency
  • Parallel Passage Tool
  • Spell checking
  • Project notes for good team communication
Requirements
  • Participants must be capable users of Paratext and familiar with the basics of translation.
  • Participants must bring a laptop with Paratext 9 installed.
Objectives

Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to:
  • Create and configure settings and inventories for a translation project.
  • Develop project plans and work effectively as a team.
  • Use the various checks in Paratext to improve the quality of a translation project.

Lunches can be purchased from the cafeteria on the SIL Center. Coffee/tea breaks WILL be provided.
