Registration Process: The order in which you join this list will not have any impact on the likelihood of you getting a spot! We will leave this form open until Monday, November 28 at 1pm. At that time, we will see how many people are on each list. If the number of people on the list is less than the capacity for the program, everyone will be emailed a link to register and the registration link will also be opened up to anyone else who wants to register.

If there are more people who want to register than there are spots available, then we will do a lottery to determine who will be emailed a link to register, and we will try to fill all of the available spots. The selection may take us some time, so the first round of people who are being offered spots will hear back from us on or by Tuesday, November 29. At that time, everyone selected in that round will have about 48 hours to register. If not all of the spots are claimed after that time has passed, we will continue making selections until either all the spots are claimed or until spots have been offered to everyone on the list. If you don’t hear from us on Tuesday the 29, you will still hear from us – so keep checking your email in case you are selected in a future round! Participants selected in future rounds of registration will also have approximately 2 to 3 days to complete their registration.

If the program fills up, anyone who is not selected at that time will automatically be added to a waitlist so they have an opportunity to register if spots open up before Launch Day. Everyone who fills out the form will hear back from us in one way or another, but it may take at least 10 to 14 days for the whole process to conclude.

If you signed up for a registration list during our most recent season (Sing Out: A New WorldDance Out: AWT Throwbacks, or Merry Wives of Windsor) when the lists first opened and you were not offered a spot, you will be able to indicate that on the registration list and you will be entered into this lottery twice to increase your chances of being selected for this program. If you were offered a spot in one of these programs or joined the waitlist after the program had sold out, you will be entered into the lottery once.

If you have any questions about how this process will work, please reach out to info@afterworktheater.org.

COVID safety protocols: Currently, participation in an AWT program is restricted to individuals who are fully vaccinated and have received at least one booster. You will be asked to provide this information by December 18, or within 24 hours of registration if that date has passed. If you have not provided this information by that time your registration will be cancelled.

Rehearsal policy: We will be requiring masks for all rehearsals for the first two to three weeks of this program. After that time, some rehearsals will be mask optional depending on the number of people and the size of the room.

Performance policy: Dress rehearsals and performances will all be mask optional. We will no longer be requiring proof of a negative test to perform unmasked, but it is imperative that any performers who are feeling any symptoms stay home.

Audience members may still be asked to be masked during the performance.

If a venue we are using for rehearsals or performances has a stricter policy, we will defer to them. Our policy on safety protocols may shift over time as the situation changes.

Our Casting Policy: The way we approach casting at AWT is very different from what is common in traditional theater. We take any notion of specific “types” and basically throw them out the window, so that any individual, regardless of how they identify or are perceived in the world, can see themselves playing any part. Additionally, it’s important to us that we not cast any one person in lead or principal roles too frequently or consecutively, or favor returning participants over people we don’t know as well.

On launch day, it’s more important that you have fun, make friends, and show your personality to the creative team, than it is to show how high you can belt. Regardless of how you are cast this will be an extremely enriching and rewarding experience. If you have your heart set on a specific part or are seeking stardom, we encourage you to consider different goals for this program. Otherwise, this might not be the theatre company for you – and that’s ok!
