POLL WORKER:
During the coronavirus crisis, election workers are needed to assist clerks and count ballots. They will serve at polling places, and will adhere to strict public health guidelines, including exercising social distancing, using sanitary equipment, and maintaining strong hygiene to protect themselves and others from coronavirus transmission.

If you have ever wondered how to become more active in government, there are plenty of opportunities for you that do not involve running for elected office. Michigan has 83 counties, 274 cities, and 1,242 townships. During an election, each of these units of government requires a staff of paid workers to assist voters and help process ballots.

Election workers, precinct inspectors and election inspectors – are people who are paid to assist voters and count ballots on Election Day.

To be an election worker, you must be a registered voter of the state. If you are not yet registered to vote but want to serve, you can register to vote online (https://minonprofitsvote.org/ACCESS/). An election worker cannot be be a challenger, candidate, member of a candidate's immediate family, or a member of the local Board of Canvassers. Anyone convicted of a felony or an election crime may not serve.

Poll workers are trained and paid for their work. Registered voters and 16 and 17-year-olds can serve as poll workers.

**YOU MUST BE A US CITIZEN & REGISTERED VOTER TO APPLY** (unless you are under 18).

POLL WATCHER:
ACCESS has historically recruited community members to observe the polls on the day of election. If you do not know what a poll watcher is, that is okay! You will receive a training prior to the election in order to learn how to be one, and there will be a stipend given after the election for $200 if you successfully volunteer for an 8 hour shift. More details will be sent after your completion of this form!
