In March 2021 the Whittier Alliance purchased the last remaining vacant lot on Eat Street, located at 2116 Nicollet Avenue.
https://www.whittieralliance.org/2116-nicollet-ave-vacant-lot.htmlThe Whittier Alliance is searching for members to serve on a dedicated committee who are representative of Whittier's diversity, are committed to antiracist and anti-oppressive values, and are eager to shape this development in our neighborhood.
Over the next 12 months, this committee's primary responsibilities will be:
> Define the vision/values for site
> Develop a request for proposal (RFP) to identify a development partner
> Review proposals and make a selection recommendation to full Whittier Alliance Board
This community-led acquisition presents an exciting opportunity to shape development at the site. Inspired by a long-time intention of the Whittier Alliance to purchase and develop property in the neighborhood for community benefit, the Board made this decision with guidance from our community-approved strategic plan.
This will be one of multiple ways to participate in the process. If this format for participation does not appeal to you, there will be more opportunities to engage.
