Welcome to Innovate, Design, Sustain (IDS)! We are UBC Okanaganโs first sustainability-focused design club. We are a unique club that focuses on projects that promote and integrate sustainable ideas at our campus. We started IDS to provide a platform for students of all faculties (and year-level) who want to make a positive change in our environment.
We are currently working on projects that address different areas of sustainability:

โข Install solar-powered benches around the campus
โข Charge smartphones and other devices
โข Add creative additional features to the benches, including but not limited to: a screen for displaying sustainability-related info, cupholders, fan, heater, decorative lights

โข Did you know the majority of the campus community do not pay attention to how they sort waste?! ย (recyclables, compostables, etc.)
โข With this project, implement creative solutions to improve waste management on campus
โข See concrete examples of our impact throughout the campus
โข Raise awareness around waste management and create a campus-wide culture

โข IDS will be joining the Solar Decathlon Design Challenge for the first time this year!
โข Design a net-zero building and compete in this international competition hosted by the US Department of Energy
โข Collaborate with organizations and industry partners including Thompson Rivers University, Smith + Andersen, RJC Engineers
