The Great CBus Pun Shout returns in 2023!
We are looking for 12-16 contestants to take part in the Great CBus PUN SHOUT.
How does it work?
- Rounds 1 & 2 are head-to-head, elimination matchups: two puntathletes take turns punning back and forth on a given topic until one is unable to continue.
- Round 3: winners of the head-to-head rounds will be given topics and two minutes to come up with a short pun-laden oration that they can deliver in under a minute.
- The final round (if needed) will be like Rounds 1 and 2.
We’ll have a variety of fun prizes! And glory for the winner.
We’re looking for pun-loving peeps who are ready to wax witty to a live audience.

If you want to compete, there are two ways to become a contestant in the PUN SHOUT
In advance: Sign up for a chance to compete by completing the form below before midnight on Tuesday, January 24. If you are selected, you will be notified by email by no later than 11 pm on Wednesday to confirm your place. You will be comped an entry to the event and will need to check in at the Nest by 7:40 on the night of the contest to claim your spot in the line up.
At the show: Sign up for the random draw on the night of the competition. We will open the entries at 7:30 pm (thirty minutes before the show) at the Nest on January 28. Anyone with a ticket to the show can enter the competition by filling out a card. We will draw competitors at random until we have a full slate, including giving away the places of any advanced registrants who do not check in.
