What: The backpack is planned for seven days and six nights. It is about 50 backpack miles. The first night will be at a trailhead campground (car camping).
Bring: Packs need to be as light as possible. Participants must be prepared to wade through rivers, hike and camp in rain, provide protection from mosquitoes and safeguard against hungry bears from stealing your food. Tents, stoves, cooking pans, and water purification equipment will be shared. Bear canisters and stoves can be checked-out from the troop inventory. All food must fit in a bear canister except the first hiking day’s food. Scouts need to bring all of their own food. We will stop for a fast food lunch during the first day’s drive. You can also purchase something for dinner in the campground or bring something from home. On the drive home, we will stop for lunch (bring money for up to three meals). Bring a change of clothes for the ride home.
Help: WE WILL NEED DRIVERS.
Requirements: Participants must in good physical shape and participate in both of the training hikes. BSA medical form part C is required.
