FWPS Volunteer Induction Program and Survey
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at our school. The purpose of this induction program is to ensure FWPS volunteers are familiar with our policies and procedures relating to child safety and understand the important role they play in maintaining and promoting the safety of our students.

Key messages
Footscray West Primary School is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children. We want children attending our school to be safe, happy and respected.
We are committed to creating inclusive environment where diversity is supported and students feel safe to bring their whole selves to school.
Allegations and concerns relating to the safety and wellbeing of our school community will be treated very seriously and consistently with our policies and procedures.
We are committed to preventing child abuse, identifying risks early and removing and reducing these risks.
Everyone has a role to ensure children are safe – if something doesn’t feel right, speak up. If you have any concerns about any inappropriate behaviours in the school community you should speak to a member of the Principal Team. If this would not be appropriate in the circumstances, you can contact the South Western Victoria Regional Office of the Department of Education and Training on 1300 338 691.

All volunteers at Footscray West Primary School are required to read the suite of policies and procedures in the links below before commencing any work where children are likely to be present. They must also complete the below Volunteer Induction Course, sign the agreement and submit a Working With Children Check prior to volunteering.

*Please note that due to the introduction of new Child Safety Standards in July 2022, all volunteers who have trained previously at FWPS are required to retrain under the new induction program.

This Volunteer Induction Course has been designed as online, to enable families to undertake the training at a time most suitable for them. 

The following videos/modules are mandatory for any aspect of volunteering at FWPS.
1. Volunteer Induction Course - Introduction (4 mins)

3. Child Safety Standards Volunteer Training (27 mins)
4. Privacy (2 mins)
5. OHS Induction for Volunteers (2 mins)

Following this, there are additional modules for specific volunteering roles. Please ensure you complete the relevant module for the activity you are volunteering with.
a. Assisting in the Classroom (8 mins)
b. Assisting with Excursions (3 mins)
c. Assisting with Swimming (2 mins)
d. Assisting with the Orchard to Plate program (3 mins)

Please note that volunteers for camps will complete an online induction following the information evenings.
