Horseback Riding Request Form
Welcome to the online request form for Bella Peregrina Ranch.
Please fill out the following questions to request a reservation.
The more accurate and detailed information you can give us, including but not limited to your schedule, the riding abilities of your group (or lack thereof), and any special needs you may have, the better we will be able to help make your ride the perfect fun and safe experience.
Please be honest and accurate and do not overestimate your group's current level of riding abilities.

We only accept trail ride requests via this form. Due to volume and inundation we cannot accept them via phone, email, text, facebook or other avenues as it is too hard to track.

How the Ride Request Process Works

When you submit a request, your information will go into our database. This request is not a booking - it is a request for a booking. This form enables you to request a lesson or trail ride but in no way guarantees the availability or reservation. No reservation is confirmed until you have prepaid the invoice we email.

Once we receive your request, Skye will check the ride calendar to see if there are appropriate horses and guides available to take you riding .

If we have appropriate horse availability we will send you a booking invoice that you can pay online through our system. Be sure to read the entirety of that email and our website as it explains our rules and requirements as well as details for your ride.

PLEASE NOTE....

Please understand that Skye, the owner, is not only answering emails but also guiding trail rides, teaching lessons, training horses, transporting horses cross country and giving pony rides for up to 16 hours a day. It may take a day or multiple days depending on the timing of your request to get back to you if her working schedule is busy.

If you are requesting a ride weeks or months out, it may take a number of days to get back to you as we may be juggling the requests for this weekend, but we will prioritize your request for that date over future requests coming in.

WHY IT MAY TAKE SOME TIME....

Skye is very careful about how we book our schedule because every horse in our barn is as unique as every rider that rides them.

Each horse has a different size, personality and skillset. Not only that, but each horse has a different preference for other horses that they work with, as well as a different saddles and tack that fit riders differently. We are very careful about which horse we choose for each rider and how we group them together for your group.

We are also very conscious of how we assemble multiple groups into one public ride. Because we only have so many lead guides, our public rides may include a few different groups of people gathered together with additional assistant guides to help throughout the ride. The dynamic between groups is paramount for us and is not simply determined by age and riding ability but a multitude of factors.

If you wish to not ride with other groups, please select that you would like a private ride at added charge.

Because of all of this, the more information you give us about each individual member of your group, as well as what your group as an entirety is looking for in a ride, the more likely we can make sure you are signing up for the ride you are looking for.

Rider Information
Please answer ALL of the list items below.
If you don't we will just have to ask you in an email before we can book your ride.

Have you been here before? Fill it out again! This information is used to match you with the proper horse. Even if you have ridden here before please provide updated information.

RIDER NAME:
Please provide first and last name.

RIDER AGE:
Providing everyone's age as it helps us select horses and potentially group you with other riders.
Riders must be at least 3 yo for the Trail Lesson Experience and Groupon "Horseback Riding"
Riders must be at least 7 yo for One Hour Trail and Groupon "60 Minute Semi Private Trail"
Riders must be at least 10 yo for Two Hour Trail
Riders must be at least 13 yo for Three Hour Trail

RIDER HEIGHT:
We need this in order to make are you get a horse of the appropriate size as well as a saddle that will fit your height.

RIDER WEIGHT:
This is needed in order to select your mount. Horses behave differently depending on the weight of the saddle/rider combination. Some horses prefer lighter combinations, some actually do like adult sized riders. We are strict about our 360lb weight limit.

RIDER LEVELS
Beginner - A rider who has limited experience, can steer but lacks finesse with the reins and is unable to post the trot and does not canter.
Novice - A rider who is capable of mounting and dismounting unassisted, capable of applying basic aids and has finesse with the reins, comfortable and in control at the walk, moderate length posting trots, and short canters.
Intermediate - A rider who has a firm seat, is confident and in control at all paces (including posting trots, two point canters and gallops), but does not ride regularly.
Strong Intermediate - An intermediate rider who is currently riding regularly and is comfortable in the saddle for at least 6 hours per day.
Advanced - All of the above, plus an independent seat, soft hands, and capable of handling a spirited horse in open country.

RIDER HISTORY AND PERSONALITY:
Give us your background in riding. Do not over-estimate or inaccurately represent your CURRENT skills - if you are a gutsy beginner or a nervous experienced rider, say that! The more information you give us the better we can make your ride. Do not OVER commit yourself by saying you are more accomplished than you really are. All of our horses are unique and different and you want an accurate pairing for your skillset.

Better phrases:
"Gutsy/Nervous first timer"
"Has taken # years of lessons but not recently"
"I've ridden # of times, I don't know much but I want to learn to trot/canter/etc...."
"Has ridden multiple times in _____ setting"
"Experienced lesson equestrian but nervous"

We are just as interested in your HISTORY and your PERSONALITY as we are in your RIDER LEVEL if not even more so. DO NOT SIMPLY USE THE WORDS: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. This is because everyone defines things a bit differently. While some people may consider an intermediate rider someone who has done a number of trail rides throughout their life, we would define it as someone who is riding regularly and can canter in control easily.

And our favorite description someone has ever given us....
"Never ridden before but highly accomplished riding a mechanical bull while intoxicated"
We knew exactly what kind of rider he was going to be... and it was a great ride!

Young Rider Policy
Three Hour Trail rides are available for ages 13 and up
Two Hour Trail rides are available for ages 10 and up
One Hour Trail rides / 60 Minute Semi Private Trail Ride Groupons are available for ages 7 and up
Trail Lesson Experience / Horseback Riding Groupons are available for ages 3 and up.

Children ages 3 - 7 are old enough for trail riding, however we require them to ride in a Trail Experience Lesson. The Trail Experience Lesson is completely designed to ensure that young riders, or nervous / fearful adult riders, or riders with Special Needs, are set up for success on trail.

The ride includes a half hour instructor led lesson, playing games and practicing skillsets that will be needed on the trail. From there the riders will head out on a half hour trail ride.

These lessons are completely designed to be flexible so that instructors can give riders the best and most memorable experience Both Lesson portion and Trail Portion can be altered according to the demonstrated riding abilities, direction following skills, emotional capacity and enthusiasm of each rider. If riders are looking in control, enthusiastic to go faster, and capable of maneuvering their horse they may spend more time on trail and even have controlled trotting opportunities!

Even if your child already has ridden before and has taken lessons, skills riding in the arena, while obviously very useful, does not always translate onto the trail for children. Our trail routes are REAL TRAILS not just dirt roads. While horses do tend to follow the trail while out on rides, their definition of a trail is just much more vague than ours is. Younger riders usually just have less advantage, are more likely to struggle with planning, paying attention to their surroundings, coordination, processing on-the-fly directions from guides, knowing left-from-right, multitasking and often can lack the strength for strong last minute cue if ever needed.
Are ANY riders under the age of 7? *
Heavy Rider Policy
Please be upfront, honest and realistic about the weight of each member of your party for their own safety. When a rider is heavier than expected it can be VERY dangerous for the rider to be on a horse. Our limits are set to ensure the safety of both the rider and the animals and we reserve the right to refuse anyone exceeding these limits. Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate riders larger than 360 lbs. as we do not have a herd that can carry such a rider. It takes a very specific herd to be able to take beginner and non-regular riders out, but especially heavier beginner riders. Our goal is to ensure a pleasurable ride for all of our riders. If a horse is carrying more weight than it is comfortable, it not only takes a toll on the horse, but also can cause unpredictable and unsafe behaviors no matter how well trained a horse might be (tripping, slipping, reluctance to move, irritability and even bucking). Our restrictions are not a matter of prejudice against heavy persons, but for safety for you as well as our horses. For further explanation of our policy, please see (insert page here)
Do ANY riders weigh over 240 lbs.? *

For a variety of reasons, we can never guarantee or accommodate all requests for a specific horse. However, we can take into account your past experiences with our horses whenever possible. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT WE DO NOT ALLOW REQUESTS OF HORSES BASED ON COLOR AS IT IS NOT AN INDICATOR OF A HORSE'S PERSONALITY TYPE, SKILL LEVEL, OR GENERAL FIT FOR THE NEEDS OF A RIDER. (If you want a certain color horse for a special event like a wedding, photo shoot, etc, please let us know in COMMENTS above, as those require completely different reservation process, pricing, policies and procedures from Lessons and Trail Rides.)

Our trail rides are scheduled ahead of time by appointment only, however sometimes we are able to accommodate same day bookings in our schedule. REQUIRED DRESS CODE - All riders must wear FULL LENGTH PANTS / AT LEAST KNEE LENGTH and CLOSED TOED, CLOSED HEELED shoes or boots in order to ride horses. At least knee length or full length pants are always required without exception for riding as they protect riders from saddle sores from the leather and any stinging insects, brush or shrubs they may encounter on the trails. Sturdy boots with a small heel are always best for riding but we will allow pretty much any closed toed, closed heeled shoes as long as they have a firm sole and cover the foot completely. PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY FOR THE SEASON AND THE WEATHER. Please dress appropriately for the weather. You will definitely want gloves when it's raining and/or cold. Wear hats that are secured and will not fly off. Hats flying off are dangerous to horses and humans. We will not interrupt a ride to retrieve a lost hat. You may retrieve your lost hat after your ride. We will not retrieve it for you. Warm socks and Toe Warmer inserts are suggested in boots / shoes. We understand in the warm weather you do not want to wear at least knee length pants. Yes, you still have to wear them. You have to wear closed toed, closed heeled shoes as well - no sandals or high heels allowed. Horseback riding is a rugged outdoor athletic adventure activity, and you will want to wear clothing and footwear that are appropriate activewear. Slippery, slick, loose fitting or highly revealing shirts and/or pants are not appropriate for your comfort. *
