AJH Student Aide Application (Current 7th Graders Only)
Applications must be completed by March 11

Thank you for your interest in being a Student Aide!  Good Student Aides perform valuable work for our school, and we are most appreciative of their services.  Please read the requirements that follow, and if you determine that this is something you would be willing to do, complete the google form application by the course selection deadline.

*The general requirements for Student Aides are:
*NO misconduct reports (office referrals)
*Excellent attendance
*Acceptable conduct grades, with no “U”
*Scholastic grades of “C” or better

*The period you serve as Student Aide must be approached as you would approach a regular subject-matter class, such as attitude and school rules. Each Student Aide position has specific duties which are associated with that office.

*Regular and prompt attendance is required.  We must be able to count on Student Aides being present every day in order for our offices to run smoothly.  Though infrequent absences due to illness or emergency are understandable, we want to stress that Student Aides are expected to maintain an excellent attendance record. Penalties are assessed for being tardy to the Student Aide period as in any other class.

*You will be assigned to one adult supervisor who will keep a record of your attendance.  You are expected to maintain a cooperative attitude toward all adults.

*Although a grade will not be assessed for the position of Student Aide, you will be required to maintain a positive attitude, good attendance, and have a good work ethic.  You are expected to indicate a willingness to work when assigned tasks, but you are also expected to show initiative by asking what needs to be done, instead of waiting to be assigned work.

*Much of the business conducted in areas using Student Aides is confidential.  Any information overheard and hasty conclusions which you might draw must not become part of your social conversation.

*You may work on homework assignments only when your supervisor gives permission in cases where there is no office work to be done.  It is expected that you will not plan to use your Student Aide period to “bail you out” on assignments due immediately.

*Student Aides are a vital part of a school’s public image.  You are expected to be courteous and considerate of all students, parents, faculty, and administrators.  Our job is to be of help whenever and however we can, and we need Student Aides working with us to reflect a sincere desire to help.

*Your conduct in the halls and in the classrooms when delivering messages should be beyond reproach. While on errands, you should go and return quickly and behave in a business-like manner.

*Some of the most important work which needs to be done in the offices is routine and repetitive.  Nevertheless, it must be done as quickly and cheerfully as possible, and there should be satisfaction in doing it well.  At any rate, if you find posting information, alphabetizing, filing and such work distasteful, please DO NOT apply to be a Student Aide.

*Student Aides who fail to meet these guidelines on the job or who otherwise fail to live up to the trust placed in them (for example: by carrying tales from the office or using their position to help friends break the rules, etc.) will be withdrawn immediately.

*Good Student Aides are really appreciated at Adams Junior High School.

Please note that you will not have a choice in which office you work. You will be assigned by the computer to one of the following locations for the entire year:  Front Office, Library, Counselor Office, Attendance Office, or one of the Assistant Principal’s offices.
