OPEN CALL to artists in Philadelphia experimenting with the moving image for Leah Stein Dance Company's 2023-2024 FILM WORKS programs.
Selected works will be presented in one of three programs in late Oct 2023 (in person), December 2023 (virtual), and Spring 2024 (in person). In-person programs will be hosted at the Art Room Studio in South Philadelphia. Online programs will be presented through zoom.
Guidelines:
- Artists can submit films, videos, or expanded cinema performances of 20 minutes or less. If your submission is longer than 20 minutes you will have the opportunity to make a strong case for your submission in the provided question.
- All themes, genre, and presentation ideas welcome. Our curation will be organically cultivated from the submissions we receive.
- Artists can submit multiple works, however please fill out one form for each different submission.
- Artists will be notified of their submission status in early August 2023

About the programmer:
LSDC is excited to be working with movement artist and filmmaker Keila Cordova to envision and curate a film series featuring dance and movement artists in the Philly area, and/or with a strong connection to Philadelphia.
Keila Cordova is the artistic director of 3 Pony Show. Evening-length performance works include KITH, Linear Default, As Pretty Does, Volcano My Love, Agnes Falling, Janet 2.0. Her film, “RESIDUALS'' was a 2021 Official Selection at the Montreal Independent Film Festival, DUMBO Film Festival & Toronto International Women Film Festival. In 2018, she received the Story Changers Award for Outstanding Leadership and for Empowering Women in the Arts in Philadelphia from the Philadelphia Women’s Theatre Festival. She’s currently a co-board chair of thINKingDANCE and a mentor with GWYN, the Get What You Need Residency Program for Philadelphia movement artists.
