We are so excited to have our young ladies dancing with us very soon.
Here is what the SIVA CLASSES entail.
1. These classes are designed to give every tama’ita’i the tools they need to carry themselves with grace and confidence in who they are in their growing years. Our goal is to provide clear foundations in Siva Samoa for a full year, only upon completion of one full year with us will they then be introduced to other Pacific dance practices like Hawaiian Hula and Cook Islands ura.
2. Classes will be taught by Charlene Tedrow - Creative director and founder of URA TABU PACIFIC DANCE.
3. Any extra workshops with guest tutors, costume making, extra online videos are all part of the term.
4. Upon completing foundations and choreography you will have access to a video recording for future reference for our tama'ita'i to keep practicing. Songs, lyrics and translations will also be provided.
5. This term the focus is on: MAU'LU'ULU AND LANGUAGE. A full break down of the term will be provided only upon confirming your child's registration.
GOAL:
To cultivate Pacific excellence in our Tama’ita’i through the art of Siva Samoa and other Pacific dance practices. We provide opportunities that inspire our tama’ita’i to embrace their cultural roots, connecting them to language, environment and other positive culturally rooted activities. It is also important to us that they feel safe in the space to be able to grow in confidence in their identities as young tama'ita'i o le Pasifika. Strong Pasifika values like aloha (love), fa'aaloalo (respect) and tautua (service) will be strongly embedded in the teachings.
Designed for our young girls from ages 5 - 13 years.
However if your child does not fall in the above age group, register her anyways and I can create a separate timetable for them.
