America House Chisinau invites you to January's Book Club Meeting! At this edition, the guest speaker is Sam Osbern - Fulbright researcher, who will present the novella Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck .

John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men is a novella about two men during the Great Depression Era. The story has achieved the status of timeless classic because it offers a unique perspective on life's hardships. The book explores three main themes : dreams, loneliness and friendship.

“The Book Club” meetings are organized once a month. Each month a different book is selected from the America House library based on the theme of the month. Participants are not required to read or know about the entire book before the session. During the meeting, they get to know more about the author and learn interesting facts about the book itself, and the context in which it was written. They read portions or chapters from the book and have a guided discussion on what they have read. 

The purpose of “The Book Club” is to encourage America House visitors aged 14+ with an intermediate level of English to read more, discover new writers and topics, and borrow books from the America House library.
