2021 - 2022 University of Hawai‘i CTAHR Kaua‘i Master Gardener Program Application
Thank you for your interest in the upcoming UH Master Gardener Volunteer Program on Kaua‘i!  The purpose of this program is to build horticultural expertise in interested volunteers using relevant, science-based horticultural information, and to conduct community outreach using the knowledge learned to support the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) cooperative extension services in promoting sustainable gardening practices and environmental stewardship in our communities.

The 2021 training course will be conducted at the Kaua‘i Agricultural Research Station in Wailua (depending on coivd), meeting weekly between February -  June 2021. The planned start date is February 12th.
In case covid prevents in-person meeting the courses will be held via Zoom and hands-on activity kits will be available for pickup.

Typically held Friday mornings 9-noon, February  - June  2021 at the Kaua‘i Research Station (pending covid) or via Zoom with hands-on projects.  Sometimes classes may finish earlier.
Do you have a smartphone or internet-connected computer with which you can use Zoom or other online meeting programs? Alternatives may be available but this in case of continued threat from Covid-19 the program may move to online classes with hands-on projects to conduct at home. *

This program requires seeking  out volunteer projects that help the public with their gardening needs.  Describe a couple of volunteer projects you have done on your own.  Also, briefly describe any volunteer project areas you might want to help the community with the gardening training that we will provide. *

Prior to being selected for the 2021-2022 UH Master Gardener Volunteer Program, all chosen applicants are required to have an orientation/interview. If selected, can you take part in an orientation/interview?  This may be done over the phone, in-person, or via Zoom. *

I wish to become a University of Hawaii Master Gardener (UH MG). I understand there is an estimated $200 training fee and that after the training I am required to do 50 hours of volunteer service to the UH MG Program (40 public volunteering and 10 hours of continuing education). *
