Instructors teaching on-bike instruction are required to hold a current certificate in Basic 1st Aid/CPR or higher. Check your local adult-ed catalog or https://www.redcross.org/take-a-class.

Agreements
I would like to volunteer with the Bicycle Coalition of Maine (BCM) as an Instructor.

As such, I commit to:

•  Represent the BCM in a professional and courteous manner at all times.

•  Complete the BCM Instructor Program training and attend the in-person certification.

•  Undergo a Background Check.

•  Provide On-Bike Handling and Traffic skills classes, as well as Bike Rodeos.

•  Provide in-class safety presentations.

•  Provide information about legal and best practice bicycle and pedestrian roadway behavior, based upon educational resources created by the BCM, MaineDOT, League of American Bicyclists, the Pedestrian-Bicycle Information Center, and FHWA.

•. Work with BCM program staff on scheduling and coordinating presentations, rodeos, and instructional rides.

• Provide only educational programming that is approved by BCM Education Staff.

• I understand that I am eligible to receive stipends for my voluntary assistance with BCM Educational Programs.
